Himmel über Berlin, Photographs

Himmel is a photo diary that I have been making since I moved to Berlin. After I arrived in Berlin in 2018, I felt alone and homesick. When I looked up at the sky, I thought of my family and wondered if the sky they were looking at at the same time was similar to the sky I was looking at. So every Sunday before sunset I started taking pictures of the Berlin sky. These pictures measure my time in Berlin. Each picture marks the end of a week. They also show how universal our world, our borders and our feelings are.

In a migrant society we are constantly searching for our home. A home that can fulfil our longing for the social environment we first encountered. For me, it was the universality of the sky where I could hide and look up that satisfied this search.
