Traversing the streets of Berlin, the weather is cold but the promise of Spring is in the air. The city feels quieter these days because of Corona restrictions. And yet we persist. Despite wearing masks, and avoiding or getting vaccines (again), getting tested, and dealing with it all, we are still here and the city is filled with breathing bodies, sharing this urban space. We are walking in the parks, riding bikes through the streets, jogging down the pedestrian pathways, working, going to galleries, sitting at cafes with friends, making love and watching children jump in puddles. Breathing Bodies Berlin is a time-based sound and text artwork that brings our attention back to the fundamental element of sharing an urban space together through breath. Breathing happens simultaneously in an intimate space, our bodies. It also takes place in a shared space; we are always sharing the breath of others. What is it to share this breath, your breath, with those who are in different spaces and places?
